 - The Bombay Industrial Disputes Act of 1938 established an industrial court and prohibited strikes and lockouts under certain conditions.
- The act also amended the Trade Dispute Act of 1929, allowing the central and provincial governments to appoint conciliation officers. 
- The act was intended to help prevent strikes and lockouts and to promote the amicable settlement of trade disputes in factories and other industrial establishments. 
- The act also made it mandatory to submit labor disputes to official arbitration
