24 ago 1978 ano - First “Pick and Place” Robot
Descrição:
Not all industrial labor requires physical strength, even though six-axis Unimate-style arms can precisely lift and operate large weights. The "Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm," or four-axis SCARA, was developed in 1978 by Hiroshi Makino, a Japanese robotics researcher. Its straightforward construction enables it to smoothly pick up an object, spin it around, and then place it exactly where it needs to be in just one fluid move. It is the earliest example of a particular kind of robot known as "pick and place." Compared to six-axis arms, SCARA arms can place tiny electronic components much faster, but they are usually less flexible and sturdy.
