In 1992, Bush had sent troops to help with the famine within Somalia. In October 3, a special ops team was sent in order to arrest two of Mohammed Aided's men. They estimated that the raid would take between 30-45 minutes. It turned into an 15 hour battle where 18 Americans were killed and 73 were injured. Clinton would state that these soldiers should not have been there in the first place and pulled them out from Somalia.
