On May 15, 1943, the German submarine U-176 was sunk off Cayo Blanquizal by the Cuban Navy. Cuba become the only non-American Allied ship to sink an enemy U-boat in the Caribbean. Despite the sinking of the boat was not that significantly important in the history books, the sinking signified the even victory of the Allied Powers.
