In 1968, Chicano students under the Los Angelos United School District high schools protested against the unequal conditions of their schools and to call for education reforms within their sfchools. They wanted a better education that does not undermine their cultures and identities. The walkouts raised attention and awareness towards systemic issues faced by Chicano students.
