As more people moved to Washington to live, the canneries industry increased, this rised the conflict between the tribes and the settlers. The Snyder Act (Indian Citizenship Act) in 1924 allowed the Native people to have full US citizenship. This decision will classify Indigenous people as Americans and their benefits as a protected group would no longer exist. Along with the act, they will not have special fishing rights.
