However, in 1942, President Ávila Camacho declared Mexico's entry into the war against the Axis powers, primarily Germany, Italy, and Japan. In 1944, Mexico sent Squadron 201, known as the "Aztecs," to fight in the Pacific alongside the Allied forces.
