Peaceful protestors against the Rowlatt Act in Amritsar, India massacred by Indian troops following the orders of Colonel Reg Dyer. Between 379 and 1500 killed.

Led to policy within British Army of "minimal force wherever possible". Widespread anger and anti-British sentiment within India.
