The Treaty of Ghent was a peace treaty signed by the U.S. and U.K. concluding the War of 1812 government wise with Great Britain.

Cause: Burning of the Capital, weakening the United States.

Effect: End of the War of 1812. Entails an agreement to begin working on the end of the slave trade.
