2 mar 1866 ano - Sharecropping
Descrição:
Sharecropping is a type of farming in which families rent small plots of land from a landowner in return for a portion of their crop, to be given to the landowner at the end of each year.
Many ex-slaves were sharecroppers. The practice was falsely advertised as beneficial and profitable to ex-slaves; in reality, it perpetuated cycles of debt and was similar to slavery in that sharecroppers were always dependent on the landowners.
