A pivotal battle that took place near the Yarmuk River during the early Islamic conquests, and was fought between the forces of the Byzantine Empire and Rashidun Caliphate. The battle consisted of a series of engagements which lasted for six days (Aug. 15th-20th), and resulted in a major victory for the forces of Islam, with the Byzantines losing the Levant as a result.
