In 1200, the Hawaiians created fishponds used to farm fish easier. Today, you can see a little over 60 rock walls that used to be farms. Back in the 1830s, there were more than 450 fishpond farms. As time has passed, Hawaiians have started importing more and more food, due to the decrease in farmers and land that is available to farm.
