Max Knoll and Ernst Ruska developed the first transmission electron microscope at the Technical College in Berlin. hey had a maximum magnification of about x5,000,000. The TEM is used to study the ultra structure of the cell and its components. The TEM can see objects as small as protein molecule and even at nano level.
