23 ago 1939 ano - German-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact

Descrição:

After a proposed security agreement with Britain and France was rejected, the Soviet Union approached Germany with a deal. An agreement between the Soviet Union and Germany was reached and both countries agreed to not be aggressive toward each other. Secretly, Germany agreed that the Soviets would take control of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Finland as well as divide Poland between them both. The Soviets knew that they would need time to increase the size of their military forces, especially with Germany expanding so quickly. Germany had always planned to invade Poland and now they did not have to worry about the Soviet army with the pact agreed to. When this news was made public, it horrified the rest of the world. Just 9 days after this agreement was made, Germany invaded Poland, which started World War II. The non-aggression pact between Germany and the Soviet Union lasted until 1941 when Germany attacked them.
