Benito Mussolini became the Italian leader after the king wrote a letter to Mussolini summoning him and to try to convince him to not raid Rome.

Causes:
1. When he came home from WW1 he was convinced that Italy needed a dictator to help the economic crisis.
2. In a speech in bologna he hinted that he could be the dictator that Italy needed.
3. He used metaphors and his clean physique to get what he wanted
4. His supporters wore black shirts at rallies.
5. he gathered fascists and they all marched on Rome to get Mussolini in power.
6. he seemed to be the most capable man to do the job.

Effects:
1. Mussolini made Italy become an ally with Germany
2. When he was in power he got rid of all of his competition to seem like he was the best leader that they could have
3. The unemployment rates went up
4. His tactics were so popular that the USA adopted some of his rules.
