-Arbenz Guzman was leader of Guatemala and decided to take land away from the US and give it to peasants, his reform program. The US get back at Guzman by training an army, invading Guatemala and capturing Guzman. Then a new leader took over, Armas

-US was involved because their land was taken and they fought back. Soviets were on Guzmans side because they were communist. This is significant to the Cold War because the US was again trying to stop the communist from expanding land (Guatemala)
