The events in 1953 was to remove the Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadeq. The U.S led this since the leader of Iran planned on nationalizing the British oil facilities. The Shah of Iran was favored by the U.S government which led to the Prime Minister being overthrown. This event would lead to tensions between the two countries in the future.
