Dred Scott Decision was a decision made by the Supreme Court that said all African Americans, slave or free, were not legal citizens of the United States. This meant they could not sue in federal court. This decision increased tensions because the North and South. Northerners felt moral outrage and the slave owning southerners were glad the decision meant Congress could not regulate slavery’s expansion.
