Czarina Alexandra married Czar Nicholas II in 1894, but she wasn't very popular in court. Alexandra met Rasputin, a "healer of the sick," in 1908 and he became her go-to. Rasputin supposedly healed her son from hemophilia. Later during World War I, Nicholas II gave his to power to Alexandra while he was out in the war. Not surprisingly, Alexandra turned to Rasputin to help her rule over Russia. When Nicholas returned her and her family were put under house arrest and brutally murdered not long after.
