George Washington was a delegate to the first continental congress in Philadelphia along with John Jay, John Dickenson, John Adams, Samuel Adams, and Patrick Henry. The main purpose for the first Continental Congress was to oppose the British Parliament for their intolerable Acts. But instead, the congress adapted to the pronouncement of declaratory rights and trial by jury for the colonists.
