As a Spanish diplomat, Don Pedro de Ayala visited Scotland throughout the late fifteenth and early sixteenth century. He notably worked to maintain peace between England and Scotland during these times, acting as the commissioner for the Scottish King as part of treaty negotiations. At the time of his writing below, he was actively building a peaceful relationship between Scotland and Spain.
