Technicolour corporation saw first success with beam splitting camera which produced 2 separate negatives- (like how sunlight + prism = rainbow). The two negatives were dyed either red or blue and were cemented together to crreate a colour film. Over the next decade, technicolour adapted their system into a 3 colour process where the camera recorded into 3 negatives.
