The National Lottery, La Lotería Nacional, originated in 1885 with the intention of raising funds for the public hospital, San Juan de Dios. It is a traditional Costa Rican game of tickets printed in series from 000 to 999, with numbers from 00 to 99, in three issues (emisiones).
