After the French and Indian War, Native Americans attacked many British settlements. In order to not have to fight a costly war with the Natives, he signed the Proclamation Act of 1763. It stopped all settlements west of the Appalachian Mountains. The Natives agreed to stop fighting and the colonist moved back to the east.
