The freedom of information act made it possible for everyone to have the freedom to access information about the railroad. Giving the people transparency about where the funding was going, making it where the people had more input. "The Omaha Platform" had stated that this would be a necessary measure to take, in order to prevent abuse of power by the railroad companies.
