After the SA leaders were killed, the SS expanded to 200,000 men under Himmler's control. They all swore an oath to Hitler.

- Before WW2, the SS were like the Police with high power. They could deport people from conquered lands, direct foreign labour, and run concentration camps.

During WW2, the SS was involved in the illegal use of POWS, ran killing squads, the Einsarzgruppen (killing people in a line), and operated the extermination camps where both Jews, Slavs and others were systematically murdered.
