10 maio 1933 ano - Book Burning
Descrição:
The tradition of book burning was marked by one of the biggest book burning ceremonies in Nazi Germany. University students burned over 25,000 “un-German” books. To keep German culture alive, university students in Germany burned thousands of books that were considered “un-German,” claiming they would wrongly influence others. Students threw books into fire, celebrating all the while. The students wanted to ensure that German literature only contained "appropriate information", meaning nothing that was written by a Jew or anything against the ideas and motives of the Germans. The motives behind book burning changed after the printing press brought about the Enlightenment. People began to realize the true power of knowledge, and how it was much more dangerous than they had previously thought.
