It started from the after math of the Revolutions of 1917 with many people disagreeing with Lenin's Bolsheviks. the people who opposed the Bolsheviks were the whites and included people like monarchists and militarists. The other group were the Bolsheviks, known as the reds. The Bolsheviks controlled the area around Moscow and Petrograd, and the whites were helped by Germany. At the end of the war, the Bolsheviks had won.
