Also Known as the treaty of Alliance. After France’s bitterly loss in the Seven Years' War, France could use this chance to ally with America and seek revenge. They also wanted to strategically weaken Britain. It was a win-win situation. The Treaty of Alliance was in effect an insurance policy for France which guaranteed the support of the United States if Britain were to break the current peace they had with the French. They promised mutual military support in case fighting should break out between French and British forces, the alliance was planned to endure indefinitely into the future.
