King George III was the king of Great Britain and Ireland from 1760 to 1820. He took the throne after his grandfather, KIng George II died. King George III reigned during the time of the American Revolution, he was remembered as the king who lost the colonies. After the American Revolution, King George became mentally unstable. Even though he recovered, his illnesses came back from personal family tragedies and pressures from reigning. In 1811, the king could not rule anymore and his oldest son, Prince George, took over the role his father.
