31 dez 1888 ano - Andrew Carnegie and the "Gospel of Wealth"

Descrição:

Andrew Carnegie is the third richest man in American History for his contribution to the Steel Empire. In “The Gospel of Wealth,” Carnegie argued that extremely wealthy Americans like himself had a responsibility to spend their money in order to benefit the greater good. In other words, the richest Americans should actively engage in philanthropy and charity in order to close the widening gap between rich and poor. His ideas are significant for still influencing the very wealthy like Bill Gates, who stated he is influenced by Carnegie to give back. Carnegie influenced James Garfield and the other "lost presidents" by taking away the power and authority presidents previously had as people were more focused on him and the other captains of industry.
