It is the end of the Renaissance period. Galileo, through his invention the telescope has worked out the planets revolve around the sun, from Pisa, Italy. this is just the start of a heap of more knowledge discovered in this period that goes against what the church has been telling people for centenaries. This started the thinking that carried through to the Enlightenment period. In the Enlightenment period people really started to go by logic and reason over what the churches said, the churches were not happy with this and sentenced to life in prison.
