An organization created by Congress in 1865 to aid newly emancipated slaves by providing food, clothing, medical care, education, and legal support. This was significant to history for marking one of the first times African Americans were aided and there was an attempt to accumulate them to a society where no discrimination existed. The Freedmen's Bureau can be related to Radical Republicanism as they both included new and radical ideas in favor of equality.
