The movement for the 8 hour workday, started by Ira Steward, was one of the most harmful strikes. Anarchists through a bomb into the middle of one of the strikes and killed 7 officers, leading to the execution of 4 men ,and the creation of the Cole Anti Boycott law and the Merritt Conspiracy law.
