When Shah Jahan became ill, war broke out between his sons to who will take the throne. Eventually, Aurangzeb emerged victorious and imprisoned Shah Jahan in Agra, who had recovered. Though he enlarged the Mughal Empire, his strict policies and harsh actions started rebellions that led to its decline.
