Lucy Maud Montgomery was a writer and an author she was born on November 30, 1874, in Clifton and now lives in New London. She had a Mother named Clara Woolner Macneill that died of tuberculosis when Lucy was only 26 months old. She had a father named Hugh John Montgomery which placed her in the custody of her grandparents because he did not want to take care of her. Montgomery is one of Canada’s most read author and is really famous for her novels back then. Most of her novels were set in Prince Edward Island or in Canada's smallest province which became a very popular place. Her first book Anne of Green Gables which was published in 1908 became an on-the-spot bestseller. In her lifetime she made more than 500 short stories, 21 novels, and two poetry collections. She has sold an estimated of 50 million copies worldwide. Anne of Green Gables was so popular at that time that it was translated into 36 different kinds of languages.
