Also known as the "Good Friday Earthquake," this was the second largest earthquake in recorded history, measuring 9.2 on the Richter Scale. It was located near Valdez and caused 139 deaths. Some of these deaths were caused by the massive tsunami that occurred afterwards, going from Alaska to California.
