Lasted two nights. Hitler used the key word "hummingbird" to order the murders of anywhere from 70 to 400 people. Rohm (internal threat) was shot in his cell by SS, schleicher (political threat) was shot when he answered his door (his wife followed to the noise and she was then shot and killed too), and Von Karr (personal revenge) was beaten to death with axes in a forest. It was rumoured that the French was paying Rohm to destroy Hitler on their behalf, and Hitler worried that Rohm would use the 3 million SA soldiers to get power for himself
