1875 (January 11). The inaugural YMCA evening dime lecture series, Spafford lectured on Oliver Cromwell. It is not well attended. It was held at the Farwell Hall.(‘The Y. M. C. A.’S Dime Series’ 8; ‘Announcements’ 8) He would lecture again on Cromwell at the Chapel of Wheaton College on Jan 31, under the auspices of the Ladies Benevolent Society, this lecture was well attended.(‘Wheaton" Affairs in Du Page County’ 2; ‘Wheaton: News in Du Page’ 2), and again on 29 March at the Fullerton Avenue Presbyterian church, proceeds going to the Sabbath-school.( ‘Announcements.
