1 jan 1808 ano - Model of Atom: Elements (Dalton)
Descrição:
John Dalton, an English, chemist, physicist, and meteorologist reintroduced Democritus' idea of the atom and he proposed a new hypothesis, 1808, called Dalton's Atomic Theory. This theory contained three propositions: all matter consists of particles called atoms, atoms are indivisible, atoms of specific elements have identical properties (atomic mass) and pure substances can be combined to develop compounds. In Dalton's prediction, he envisioned atoms to be tiny, solid and spheric particles. Dalton performed many experiments to prove his theories and one of those was when he obtained oxygen and nitrogen in a closed space. In the locked vessel, the two elements are bound with each other to create a compound.
