Back in the mid 19th century, a case known as Plessy v. Ferguson was brought to the court as a black man was denied entry to the train car he bought a ticket for since it was a white car. The segregation was upheld and black people began to be segregated legally from all aspects of life. The Brown v. Board of education case made it illegal for black people to be segregated into separate schools and was the catalyst for desegregation in America.
