A 20-mile wide strip of Blackfeet Reservation was ceded to the U.S. gov't, who hoped to find gold and copper. Didn't find any mineral deposits, so in 1910, land was put aside for Glacier National Park. The Blackfeet claimed the land was only provided for a 99-year lease.
