The Good Friday Agreement essentially ended hostilities between the Provisional Irish Republican Army and the British government by establishing a soft border between Ireland and Northern Ireland and severely reducing the British military presence in NI. The Good Friday Agreement ended one of the last main fronts of Euroterrorism, and are important in understanding the unprecedented peace that reigned in the EU from 1991 to 2001.
