The Atlantic charter was a policy drafted by Winston Churchill and FDR as a plan for allies' goals for the post-war world. The policy focused on preserving the self-determination f nations as well as a social and economic plan for cooperation between nations as they navigated the post-war world. The Atlantic Charter set goals for the post-war world and inspired many of the international agreements that shaped the world thereafter. The General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), the post-war independence of European colonies, and many other key policies are derived from the Atlantic Charter.
