Clara Barton Founds the American Red Cross. She had worked to supply soldiers on the battlefield during the Civil War, and founded the Red Cross after. The red cross played an important role in WWI, as the US provided medial relief to European combat zones. The SS Red Cross was a famous ship that carried 170 surgeons and nurses to the European battlfields.
