Two years after the Soviet space station Salyut 1, the USA made America's first space station named Skylab. However, during the launch, the station lost it's meteor shield, which would protect it from the harsh rays of the sun. It successfully made it to space and made an orbit, however it had to go under serious repairing. Skylab was in space for 75 months, and accompanied by astronauts for 6 of the 75. It returned to Earth in 1979, but not in piece, it was debris falling into a small part of Australia. Nasa was repremanded for endangering the country and its people.
