this conference failed for many reasons, including but not limited to the fact that Hitler made it very evident that he disagreed with the disarmament laws; only partial disarmament was able to occur; France was borderline unwilling to disarm as they were afraid Germany was going to try and invade again; and an army was needed for the league to enforce the disarmament laws.

there would have been a better chance of disarmament if Hitler wasn’t elected as German Chancellor, however, it would still be very difficult to achieve global disarmament despite this, knowing that France and Britain did not trust each other fully and didn’t want to take such a big risk, which could have possibly ruined their country even further than the Great Depression did.

the failure of this conference made international situations worse as countries started to rearm due to the fear of Germany’s rearmament. the wall street crash also made countries turn towards militarism to get through the depression therefore many countries were also midway through rearmament during the WDC.
