Where the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments went far to increase freedom and ensure rights they only granted and protected the rights of men. To reach a long-overlooked and large portion of the population another amendment was needed. The 19th amendment granted and safeguarded the right to vote for women, also known as women's suffrage.
