He was Lenin’s second hand man for most of the Russian Revolution and proved to be a solid military leader. Later though Lenin characterized Trotsky as a man of “exceptional abilities” but “too far-reaching self-confidence and a disposition to be too much attracted by the purely administrative side of affairs.” Lenin and Stalin saw him as threat because fo his more socialist views and they pushed him out. Later he was murdered by an ice pickbut the Soviet government didn’t take any responsibility.
