Born in Connecticut, she was one of the youngest children of Lyman Beecher, a minister, and moral reformer. She married, lost a son, and in 1850 she and her family moved to Maine and she wrote "Uncle Tom's Cabin" a well-known book because of its realism and references to how slaves were treated and it's ironic views on Christianity and white apologists (History Web).
